Competitor
Baseline

Three different kinds of competitor, only one of which is worth fighting. Measured on the same basis as the Assembly audit.

Competitor sites measured 27 August 2026

The one line

What the baseline shows Nobody in the Dubai vintage segment is doing SEO. The Odd Piece, the closest match to Assembly in what it sells and where it sits, has no H1, no structured data at all and 154 words on its homepage. The segment is open.

The pressure comes from two directions instead: modern furniture retailers who are properly built and will keep taking generic Dubai furniture searches, and global marketplaces that dominate product terms. Assembly cannot beat either on their own ground, and does not need to.

Measured side by side

Every figure read from the live homepage of each site on the same day, using the same checks as the Assembly audit.

Assembly is last on every column except one. It is the only site in the set with an empty H1, the only one with no location or category in its title tag, and it has 313 words on the homepage against 8,374 and 9,492 for the two strongest retailers.

Three kinds of competitor

Direct vintage rivalsWeak. Beatable.

The Odd Piece (Alserkal Avenue, Al Quoz), Garderobe, and the smaller Alserkal dealers.

The Odd Piece is the closest match to Assembly in positioning and it is doing less SEO than Assembly is. No H1, no structured data of any kind, 154 words on the homepage and no blog. Its only advantage is a well written title tag and a correctly sized meta description, both of which are ten minute fixes on Assembly's side. Nobody in the Dubai vintage segment has built the content and schema layer. The category is open.

Modern furniture retailersStrong. Do not fight them head on.

ebarza, WS Living, The Wood of Arts.

These are the sites currently absorbing generic Dubai furniture searches, and they are properly built: FurnitureStore and FAQPage schema, breadcrumbs, working blogs, and homepages running from 1,800 to 9,500 words against Assembly's 313. They sell new and reproduction furniture, so they cannot compete on period originals, provenance or a single surviving piece. Assembly should not spend effort trying to outrank them on 'furniture Dubai'.

Global marketplacesDominant on product terms.

1stDibs, Nazmiyal, Mehraban, eBay, and Italian sellers such as originalmuranoglass.com.

1stDibs alone lists over 7,400 Murano glass chandeliers and pendants. On the rug side, Nejad advertises 30,000 rugs in stock and 37 years in Dubai. One Italian seller has gone as far as naming a product 'Chandelier Dubai' to capture the search. Assembly will not outrank these on head terms and should not try. What none of them can offer is a piece you can walk into a showroom in Al Quoz and look at this week.

Authority gaps, in fixing order

LocalBusiness schema

Every retail competitor runs FurnitureStore or equivalent. Assembly runs Organization only, so the Al Quoz showroom is invisible to local search.

Same day once access lands
BreadcrumbList schema

All four competitors have it. Assembly has none on any template.

Theme level, one change
FAQPage schema

ebarza and WS Living both run it and earn expanded results because of it. Assembly has none.

Per page, once pages exist
A working blog

All three retailers publish. Assembly's blog sitemap contains the index and zero articles.

Out of scope this engagement, Section 8
Homepage depth

313 words against 1,821, 8,374 and 9,492. Google has almost nothing to read.

Section 3
A findable title

'Assembly Vintage Concept Store' contains no category and no location. Every competitor names both.

Ten minutes

Where Assembly can actually win

The objective is not to outrank ebarza or 1stDibs. It is to own the intersection none of them can serve.

What this baseline does not yet include

Honest limitation This is a structural baseline: what each competitor has built, measured directly from their live sites, which is the same wherever it is read from. It is not a ranking baseline. Actual positions on the ten core searches depend on searching from a UAE location, which needs either a rank tracker set to Dubai or checks run from a UAE IP.

That is the next step in this section, and it should be done before any on-site change ships, so movement can be attributed. Monthly tracking of competitor content, backlinks and reviews follows from the same setup.
